Results for the Cirque 5k in Vegas – Check out this Surprisingly Fast Kid

A week or so ago we reported to you that there was going to be a race in Las Vegas called the Run Away with Cirque Du Soleil 5k. If you want the results, you can go here, but we’ve also decided to publish the best times of the day to get the word out about some great athletes who like charity and Cirque du Soleil. A little promotion for fitness and the circus never hurt anybody.

Okay, so did you see this? This 10 year-old kid would have placed second in the entire race, had he raced against the big boys in the open division. Amazing. Somebody give that kid a scholarship to Stanford to run track, or at least get a verification on the time. That’s pretty fast for a 10 year-old. That’s fast for a 26-year old, even.

The Cirque Blog did some research and found out that the times for kids at the famous Carlsbad 5000, largely considered to be the fastest 5k in America, were not even as fast- despite the fact that the race is much larger, and attracts a much more talented pool. In fact, in the 2007 Carlsbad 5000, Julian Jalani (also of Las Vegas, coincidentally) won the 1-12 age group with a time of 18:28. He was 12. The fastest 10 year-old ran 20:20.
