Don’t let the title fool you. Stilt walkers from Cirque du Soleil are not going to take over the planet War of the Worlds-style. In fact, the incident appears to have only happened in Dundee, a town near Omaha, Nebraska. As you might be aware, Cirque du Soleil’s Saltimbanco is being performed in Omaha, so the Cirque guys are doing their best to help promote for the show. You can see a video of it from Omaha’s own KETV NewsWatch 7. Check it out. While it might not be the best video on the web right now, you’ll get an idea of the fun some random people were having with some very tall guests of their town.

So do you think that doing these performances is a good way to advertise for a Cirque show. The guys at CdS seem to know how to get the crowds coming to their shows, so something tells me that these sorts of things work pretty well. Whether the event got the people there to buy tickets or not is one thing- however, if you can get the local news to tell every citizen in Omaha that there’s a Cirque show in town, well, that’s free advertising without the high cost of a commercial. I think it’s a great idea.
