Cirque Helping Twirling

Cirque Du Soleil is known for incorporating incredible aspects of acrobatics and circus performing into its acts and can add twirling.  Twirling may bring to mind a majorette at the front of a marching band, but today it is much, much more.  There are actually national championships, held this year in Daytona Beach, Florida.  The president of the U.S. Twirling Association wants people to see the new side of Twirling and said in an interview, “We have evolved from being the halftime entertainment in football fields and parades, but many people don’t recognize it because they haven’t seen it.”

Helping twirling make a name for itself is the Cirque Du Soleil shows.  Noriko Takahashi does Japanese twirling for a Cirque Du Soleil show and has won six twirling world championships.  Others in the sport see Takahashi as a shining example of how twirling can lead to a career.  Even if those who compete in twirling don’t find a career in it, Takahashi says it gives participants valuable skills like self-discipline.  In today’s twirling, there are even men who participate.  To see twirling and other amazing acts, get your Cirque Du Soleil tickets from StubHub.com.
