Riggers Run Corteo Seamlessly

Many audiences at Cirque Du Soleil’s Corteo walk away in awe of the incredible performers and amazing costuming.  One of the most important parts of the show may not even cross their minds: the riggers.  The riggers are the people behind the scenes who set up and control all of the acts.  Although creating one of Cirque Du Soleil’s most challenging shows to rig may seem stressful, the head rigger for Corteo, Vincent Schonbrodt, says that this is the most fun riggers can have.  Other jobs riggers can have vary from working on bridges to working with oil derricks. No other jobs have quite the color that Corteo has.

Corteo is surely a challenge.  Whether they are lifting and lower angels, making a bicycle fly, or controlling a humongous chandelier with women flipping all over it, the riggers have their job cut out for them.  Fifteen riggers work for four to five days to set up each time the traveling show comes to a new town. On top of making sure the show goes smoothly, they are also a large part of what keeps the performers safe during their various acts.  See all of their work by getting Cirque Du Soleil tickets from StubHub.com.
