Up, Up and Away for Cirque Founder

It is anything but the typical prose that comes out of space adventures heads, but for Guy Laliberte, he is anything BUT the typical space astronaut. The founder of Cirque du Soleil has been confirmed as the next addition in Russian’s Soyuz spacecraft that is set to launch this fall toward the International Space Station and the creative soul was looking forward to launching a “social and poetic mission.” A millionaire that is from a humble background found that his innovations with the circus could bring him fame and fortune unlike any other, as he moved from fire breather to all around CEO and creator of the global empire that is Cirque du Soleil, the international circus. The man behind all the colorful costumes and stunts is also theĀ proprietor of One Drop, an organization that helps to fight poverty with access to water; he has, over the years, pledged to donate $100 million over 25 years to the organization. “My mission is dedicated to making a difference on this vital resource by using what I know best: artistry,” he said in a new conference held in Mosco and the Canadian Space Agency headquarters. “Traveling has always been my way of life and I have been researching the possibilities of space travel since 2004,” he continued.
