Cirque du Soleil is raising the roof! In all senses, we meant that literally as Cirque du Soleil’s iconic blue and yellow big top tent is being raised today in St. Paul for the next traveling troupe performance of “Kooza.” Though as always city officials are worried about the size and somewhat destruction of a city’s area when the Cirque comes into town, especially when it is a small city, the St. Paul Mayer, Chris Coleman, will be on hand for the official tent raising at 1pm in St. Paul’s Lowertown neighborhood to officially welcome the Montreal based traveling circus that has made international headlines for 25 years.
The big top, otherwise known as the Grand Chapiteau, is 66 feet tall and 167 feet in diameter, complete with four masts all of which are 80 feet tall. Though the tent is being put up today, it will take up to 80 people and about seven days to finally put the final touches on the Cirque du Soleil magic, which will end up seating 2,5000.
“Kooza” will run in St. Paul from Thursday, July 2nd through Sunday, August 2nd - and Cirque du Soleil tickets from StubHub are still available so get them now!
